J-ENG renews license agreement with Akasaka Diesels Limited

Japan Engine Corporation (J-ENG) has renewed its license agreement with Akasaka Diesels Limited for the manufacture and sale of the UE engines, which are domestically produced low-speed two-stroke engines.

In this renewed license agreement, J-ENG has granted Akasaka a new license to manufacture and sale of ammonia fueled engines (LSJA series), which J-ENG completed ahead of the world last year, in addition to the latest lineup of heavy fuel oil engines.

Following ammonia fueled engines, J-ENG is currently developing and manufacturing hydrogen fueled engines (LSGH series) and has also begun development of methanol fueled engines (LSJM series).

As the movement towards a "decarbonized society" accelerates, J-ENG will deepen its cooperation with Akasaka, the domestic UE engine licensee which has been licensing the manufacturing and sale of UE engines for many years. Furthermore, J-ENG will deepen its collaboration with the “UE family” expanding with globally and promote the spread of the next-generation fueled engines by providing appropriate licenses to the licensees in a timely manner, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the shipping, shipbuilding, and marine industries.
