Green fuel developer Everfuel has signed an agreement with an unnamed partner to supply oxygen produced as a byproduct of hydrogen production at its flagship Hysynergy plant in Denmark.
The long-term contract includes payment for a capacity reservation of oxygen and a recurring payment for oxygen supply. Everfuel anticipates a minimum revenue of €1mn/yr ($1.05mn/yr) once the agreement is fully implemented.
Everfuel has already signed a hydrogen offtake agreement with Danish refinery Crossbridge Energy, a partner on the project, as well as a contract to provide process heat to local district heat operator TVIS.
DKK246.3mn – Government grant for Hysynergy project
Hysynergy started producing hydrogen in December as part of planned startup and testing of production equipment for the 20MW first phase of the project. The hydrogen produced was “safely vented into the atmosphere with no environmental impact”, according to Everfuel.
Hysynergy received the EU’s Important Project of Common European Interest status in September 2022 and was awarded a DKK246.3mn ($35mn) grant from the Danish government in December. The grant will be used for the construction of the first 100MW of the planned 300MW second phase of the project.
Everfuel plans to start up the second phase of Hysynergy by the end of 2025 and expand the project to 1GW of capacity by 2030.
