BP has chosen engineering firm KBR as primary integrated project management contractor for its global hydrogen project portfolio, adding to its existing agreement with the firm.

500,000–700,000t/yr – BP’s target hydrogen production from 2030
BP is developing both blue and green hydrogen projects in Europe and Australia, as well as a CCS network in the greater Houston area in cooperation with industrial gases firm Linde. The major in February told investors it targets 500,000–700,000t/yr of hydrogen production from 2030, with FID and construction on the first large projects expected between 2023 and 2025.
KBR has seen increasing activity in the hydrogen sector. The firm was awarded a pre-Feed study contract for Norwegian energy company Equinor’s 600MW H2H Saltend blue hydrogen project in the UK, which is due to take FID this year. KBR will also supply its green ammonia technology for the 200MW Point Tupper project in Canada and the 26MW Hyex project in Chile.
